Located in Barra da Tijuca, along Av. Sernambetiba, Barra da Tijuca Beach is the main beach of Barra, and holds the title of largest beach of Rio de Janeiro with almost 18 km long. From the Avenida Ayrton Senna stretch, the beach is an area of environmental preservation, and you can make a nice stroll through the Marapendi Reserve.
The beach is characterized by its white sand, with greenish, clear waters, and places with enough waves due to strong winds. Despite all the beach is a big draw, there is a more trendy stretch, known as Pepe Beach, which attracts mainly young people.
